Time Capsule - Tapestry of Time

This time capsule has been commissioned by the CHIJ Alumni 2024, in commemoration of the 170th Anniversary of CHIJ and to leave a tangible legacy to our future generations of CHIJ girls.

These items represent IJ memories at that time and offer a glimpse into aspects of CHIJ Education that people wanted to represent, either through the school yearbook, or souvenirs that were distributed for various commemorative events. It also captures CHIJ’s journey alongside Singapore’s development.

The items enclosed in this time capsule have been contributed by students and teachers, both past and present, of CHIJ Victoria Street, CHIJ Primary and CHIJ Secondary.

Mrs Tan Aye Leng (a former Science teacher in CHIJ) has been instrumental in collecting and archiving the various artefacts. Dr Claire Ang (class of 1977) and Ms Candice Seet (class of 1999) both members of the CHIJ Alumni, have curated the various items.

In the year 2054, we hope that the reveal of these will offer insight as to what IJ life was 30 years ago.

We hope that the instilled DNA of an IJ girl 30 years on will still be the same.
